AeroShield ha creado los aerogeles de silicato m\u00e1s transparentes del mundo, literalmente los materiales con mayor capacidad de aislamiento t\u00e9rmico jam\u00e1s creados. Y nuestro gran avance ha sido hacerlos transparentes por primera vez. Lo suficientemente transparentes como para integrarlos en una ventana.<\/p>\n<p>Este avance surgi\u00f3 del MIT gracias a nuestra cofundadora, la Dra. Elise Strobach. Su investigaci\u00f3n doctoral fue la base de este descubrimiento. Y ahora, nuestra tarea es producir l\u00e1minas grandes a un precio adecuado y en un formato que la industria de ventanas pueda adoptar.<\/p>\n<p>Los aerogeles son un material s\u00faper aislante que fue desarrollado originalmente por la NASA para aislar naves espaciales. Este material est\u00e1 compuesto en un 97% por aire. Es una nanoestructura que b\u00e1sicamente atrapa el aire. Es extremadamente liviano, resistente al fuego y posee propiedades sorprendentes. Y, como mencionamos, nuestro avance fue lograr que fueran transparentes por primera vez.<\/p>\n<p>Lo m\u00e1s importante es que este material tambi\u00e9n evita cualquier tipo de conducci\u00f3n o convecci\u00f3n, que son los dos principales modos de transferencia de calor en las ventanas. Por lo tanto, el uso de aerogel permite a los fabricantes de ventanas mejorar el rendimiento t\u00e9rmico sin cambiar el grosor ni el peso de la ventana.<\/p>\n<p>Este es el segundo GPD de AeroShield. El primero fue en 2023. Y en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os, hemos alcanzado hitos importantes. Hemos logrado avances tanto en la transparencia como en la manipulaci\u00f3n de nuestros aerogeles. Tambi\u00e9n hemos producido tama\u00f1os m\u00e1s grandes que antes. Por ejemplo, AeroShield ya ha fabricado puertas de entrada y puertas de patio. Y este a\u00f1o anunciamos una colaboraci\u00f3n con una importante empresa estadounidense de puertas de entrada y patio. As\u00ed que lanzaremos ese primer producto el pr\u00f3ximo a\u00f1o, lo cual es muy emocionante.<\/p>\n<p>En nuestro camino, ha habido muchas sorpresas. Por ejemplo, no imagin\u00e1bamos cu\u00e1n amplio ser\u00eda el impacto de nuestra idea inicial de hacer el vidrio m\u00e1s eficiente energ\u00e9ticamente. Nos contactan empresas de ventanas, pero tambi\u00e9n fabricantes de puertas de congeladores para supermercados. Incluso empresas de veh\u00edculos el\u00e9ctricos, donde encender el aire acondicionado reduce la autonom\u00eda. As\u00ed que tambi\u00e9n hay una necesidad de hacer estos autos m\u00e1s eficientes. Hay una gran variedad de casos de uso donde nos han pedido aplicar nuestra tecnolog\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p>Crear un nuevo material no es tarea f\u00e1cil. Y siempre nos tomamos un momento divertido al final del a\u00f1o para reflexionar sobre lo que ha pasado. Mi historia favorita es la de alguien que llevaba un aerogel cerca de una puerta abierta, y el viento lo vol\u00f3 del estante de almacenamiento y rompi\u00f3 el material.
